Who Pays for What?
That’s a question I get asked a lot, so to help you with that answer here is a list of the
traditional wedding expenses.
Let’s begin with the Bride:
1. The groom’s wedding ring
2. A wedding present for the groom (an optional exchange)
3. Presents for her bridal attendants and maid/matron of honor
4. Personal stationery
The Groom:
1. The bride’s engagement and wedding rings
2. A wedding gift for the bride
3. The Marriage license
4. Gifts for his best man and ushers
5. The bride’s bouquet, corsages for both mothers; boutonnieres for the men in the
wedding party, ushers and both fathers
6. The fee for the officiate
7. The honeymoon
The Brides’ family:
1. The bride’s gown, accessories and trousseau
2. Invitations to the wedding and other wedding related festivities such as
engagement parties, next morning brunches, announcements, thank you cards and
all postage fees
3. The Reception including the catering
4. The cost of the ceremony, including rental of the church, temple or other facility, as
well as fees for the musicians. Also, the decorations such as canopies, aisle
carpets, ceremony flowers and other decorations.
5. The Photography and the Videography
6. Bridesmaids bouquets
7. Transportation for the bridal party from the bride’s house to the ceremony and
reception
8. A bridesmaids lunch
9. A gift for the bride and groom (the wedding!)

1. Their clothes for the wedding
2. Their own travel expenses and accommodations
3. A gift for the couple
4. The rehearsal dinner
5. Any other expenses that they would like to share with the bride’s family
The Attendants:
1. Their ceremony clothes, including dresses, shoes, tuxedos and accessories
2. Travel expenses
3. A gift for the couple
